Story of newborn baby girl suffering from heart disease

She was diagnosed in mother’s womb by fetal echocardiography as having severe narrowing in pulmonary valve of her heart.

Parents were counselled many times during pregnancy on regular follow ups and baby was delivered at Fortis Hospital Shalimar Bagh New Delhi. She was born as low birth weight baby at full term with only 2 kg body weight probably because of her heart condition. Her pulmonary valve needed immediate intervention within few days to prevent heart failure or sudden death.

On 10th day of life, she was taken for balloon dilatation procedure in cath lab. Procedure was performed inside the heart without taking patient on ventilator and without a single scar or suture on her body. Procedure was successful and baby was shifted to neonatal ICU. Same day, feeds were started and she was discharged very next day from the Hospital like a normal baby On follow up, she is doing very well and parents are very happy and satisfied.
